Gamete and Embryo Biology
We identify the mechanisms of action of gametes and embryos in farm animals, and exploit the knowledge acquired in the applied research.
Biosensors
Electrochemical sensors and biosensors for food analysis and medical diagnostics.
Immunology and Food Microbiology
Immunomodulatory properties of food components and intestinal microbiota in in vitro and in vivo studies
Chemistry and Biodynamics of Food
We study the profile of phytochemicals in food, metabolism and bioavailability of phytochemicals, as well as antioxidant properties of food.
Chemical and Physical Properties of Food
We develop analytical methods of bioactive compounds and their interactions. We study the influence of microstructure and physical properties on the food quality.
Biological Function of Food
We study the physiological and molecular mechanisms by which previously known and potentially new dietary components affect the gut and metabolic health of the body.
Prophylaxis of Metabolic Diseases
We study the role of adipose tissue and skeletal muscle in the development of insulin resistance in human. We conduct weight loss programs for the obese.
Biology and Pathology of Human Reproduction
Department studies are focused on various aspects of infertility and human reproductive problems. In recent years there has been significant development of human assisted reproductive technologies. Unforunately, many issues still remain unsolved. Difficulties in assessing the reproductive potential of gametes and ability of embryos development make it necessary to fertilize more oocytes and transfer into the uterus at least two embryos of unknown capacity for implantation. It has a significant impact on the effectiveness of methods and increase the percentage of multiple pregnancies and gynecological complications.Therefore, the operation of the department focuses on the following research tasks:<ul><li style=”text-align: justify;” data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;”><div><p>evaluation of ovarian reserve and its impact on the potential of an oocyte with an attempt to work out of biomarkers of developmental quality,</p>
</div>
</li><li style=”text-align: justify;” data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;”><div><p>the role of steroids in development of follicles and maturation of the oocyte,</p>
</div>
</li><li style=”text-align: justify;” data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;”><div><p>assessing the fertilizing capacity of sperm,</p>
</div>
</li><li style=”text-align: justify;” data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;”><div><p>attempts to develop methods to assess the development potential of embryos,</p>
</div>
</li><li><div style=”text-align: justify;” data-mce-style=”text-align: justify;”> analysis of endometrial receptivity.</div>

</ul>
Hormonal Action Mechanisms
We study mechanisms involved in the regulation of the estrous cycle and embryo-maternal interactions during early pregnancy in a pig.
Reproductive Immunology and Pathology
We study interactions between immune and female reproductive systems. Our goal is to elucidate immuno- and neuro-endocrine pathomechanisms of ovarian and endometrial dysfunctions.
Local Physiological Regulations
We study the molecular and morphological features of ischemic uterus, as well as the effect of environmental factors on biological barriers functioning.
Biodiversity Protection
We investigate the reproductive and developmental biology of wild animals. We elaborate reproductive biotechniques, biotechnologies and methods of molecular biology to control and maintain the biodiversity of wild animals, and preserve livestock breeds.
