Delegates from Olsztyn held discussions with the authorities and scientists of the the Obihiro University and visited its most important research and organizational entities: research departments (Department of Animal and Food Hygiene, Department of Applied Veterinary Medicine, Department of Basic Veterinary Medicine, Department of Food Sciences); National Research Center for Protozoan Diseases – one of the leading scientific centres of Japan, no. 1 in the parametric ranking of the Japanese Ministry of Science; Diagnostics Center for Animal Health and Food Safety; Large Animal Hospital and Clinical Research Center; and Field Center of Animal Sciences and Agriculture.
During the scientific seminar held on November 15, 2016 prof. Skarżyński presented the research potential of the Institute and elaborated upon the key areas of cooperation in the field of biomedicine, food sciences, public health and human and animal reproduction. Partners discussed also the issues of staff exchange, organisation of joint conferences, trainings and scientific workshops, as well as a three-side cooperation in the field of veterinary sciences within the framework of KNOW „Healthy animal – Safe food” consortium. On November 16, during the second part of the seminar, scientists from Obihiro presented the most significant research priorities of the University, with a special emphasis put on the studies in the area of microbiology and food safety, plant biology and bioactives functions, as well as reproductive biology and biomedical analytics.
