Assistant Professor in the Biodiversity Protection Team

The Biodiversity Protection Team is based in Popielno, and during the initial employment period the Institute offers accommodation on preferential terms near Popielno.

The Biodiversity Protection Team has laboratory and office facilities in Popielno, with the possibility of using very well-equipped laboratories in Olsztyn.

Job description:

  • conducting scientific research and applying for scientific and research projects in the field of biodiversity conservation, with particular emphasis on:
    • the impact of environmental, stress-related, and epigenetic factors on the physiology, welfare, and adaptive processes of wild fauna,
    • analyses of the quality and biological properties of raw materials of animal origin,
    • development and implementation of reproductive biotechnologies and identification of markers of animal reproductive potential,
    • implementation of laboratory diagnostics based on biological material of animal origin,
  • designing, conducting, and analyzing laboratory experiments,
  • preparing scientific publications,
  • cooperation within a research team as well as independent work,
  • involvement in educational and science popularization activities.

Qualification requirements:

  • PhD degree in agricultural, biological, veterinary, forestry, or related sciences,
  • specialist knowledge documented by a defended doctoral dissertation, publications indexed in the Philadelphia list (Journal Citation Reports), and presentations at scientific conferences, including:
    • co-authorship of at least 7 scientific publications indexed in Journal Citation Reports, including at least 3 publications where the candidate is the first or corresponding author,
    • active participation in national and international scientific conferences, including at least 5 oral presentations,
  • documented experience in analytical work involving biological material of animal origin,
  • completion of a scientific internship lasting at least 12 months,
  • participation as a contractor/researcher in at least 2 externally funded research projects,
  • good command of spoken and written English,
  • category B driving license and practical ability to drive a passenger car,
  • ability to operate basic computer and laboratory equipment.

Required experience in:

  • preparation of animal tissues and organs,
  • experimental work with live farm animals,
  • molecular biology techniques,
  • histological techniques,
  • operation of microscopes,
  • knowledge of statistical software,
  • additional advantage: ability to conduct cell cultures and use publicly available databases for processing proteomic and/or transcriptomic data.
