Director of Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of Polish Academy of Science in Olsztyn announces an open call for the position:

  • Assistant at the Department of Biology and Pathology of Human Reproduction
    (No. of positions: 1)

Research and other activities in which the candidate will take part in:

  • investigation of the influence of environmental factors such as xenoestrogens on the male reproductive system,
  • determination of the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of male infertility,
  • searching for biochemical / molecular markers of male infertility in seminal plasma,
  • selection of the miRNAs that can be regulated by environmental factors in the nucleus and the characterization of the signaling pathways regulated by miRNAs.

Information on work conditions and perspectives of personal professional development:

Participation in the above-mentioned scientific research will contribute to a significant increase in the candidate’s scientific competences in the field of research on the role of environmental factors in the development of male infertility. As a result, through working in an interdisciplinary scientific team, the candidate will have the prospect of developing skills, strengthening scientific achievements, as well as improving competences in planning and managing a group.

Main requirements:

  • master degree (biotechnology, biology or similar),
  • authorship or co-authorship in the scientific papers published in the international journals, at least one with the first authorship,
  • experience, documented by scientific achievements, in studies on the influence of xenoestrogens on the reproductive system,
  • experience, supported by scientific achievements, in the field of molecular biology techniques (including: DNA/RNA isolation, Reverse Transcription PCR, Real Time PCR, Western Blotting, ELISA), immunohistochemistry and microscopic techniques, including immunofluorescence,
  • experience in in vitro laboratory techniques (knowledge of isolation and primary cell culture methods as well as cell line culture),
  • experience in working with laboratory animals (mice), certified by the Polish Society of Sciences on Laboratory Animals in the field of planning procedures and experiments, performing procedures and killing animals,
  • foreign scientific internships of a minimum of 2 months in the biology and pathology of human reproduction research center,
  • participation in research projects,
  • participation in scientific conferences,
  • good command of English in speech and writing,
  • ability to use computer hardware, including fluency in GraphPad Prism and EndNote.

Planned period of employment: the first contract concluded on 01.10.2022 at the latest, with the possibility of further extension.
